French Fries & Potato Chips ๐๐ฅ
Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes
- 1 tbsp salt (plus extra for seasoning)
- 500 ml cold water (for soaking)
- Cooking oil for deep frying (about 500 ml)
- Optional: black pepper, paprika powder, cheese powder
How to Make
- Peel and wash the potatoes.
- Cut into sticks for French fries or thin slices for potato chips using a mandoline or sharp knife.
- Soak the cut potatoes in cold water with 1 tsp salt for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry thoroughly.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to about 160°C (320°F). Fry potatoes until half-cooked (pale and soft), about 4–5 minutes. Remove and drain.
- Increase oil temperature to 180–190°C (356–374°F). Fry again until golden brown and crispy, 2–4 minutes.
- Remove, drain on paper towel, and immediately season with salt and optional spices. Serve hot.
